One-Off Updates That Can Give Your Kitchen a Whole New Look
When you think of remodeling your kitchen, you probably think of ripping everything out and starting from scratch. Indeed, this is one way to get a kitchen with a whole new look, but it can also be a costly way to transform your kitchen. If you want to update your kitchen without spending so much, then you may instead want to make one of these big changes. Each of these changes will transform the look of your kitchen, even if it is the only change that you make.
Replace your backsplash
The backsplash is often the focal point of your kitchen. So, if you have a remodeling contractor change your backsplash, you'll change the entire look. Aim to go with a very different material and color than you have right now. For instance, if you have an all-white kitchen with a white backsplash, replace the white tile with small navy blue tiles. You instantly have a more nautical-looking kitchen. If you have a colorful backsplash now, change it out for neutral tile, and you have a more subdued look. Accentuate your new backsplash with some accessories in the same color, and neighbors will soon be complimenting your new kitchen.
Have your cabinets painted
Another option is to have your cabinet doors repainted or refinished. If they currently have a natural wood finish, paint them white. If they are currently white, have them painted a bold color, like red or dark green for a more modern look. Most kitchen remodeling contractors will want to remove the doors, take them off-site, and return them when they are refinished. You can also ask them to replace the hardware, which will further change the look of your kitchen.
Add an island
If you have some extra space in your kitchen, then just ask your kitchen remodeling contractor to add an island. They can create a big or a small island based on your needs. A small island can be a good place to store some extra kitchen items, and you can use the counter to chop veggies and the like. A larger island can hold an extra sink so people are not always bumping past you to wash their hands, or it can even be a seating space, like an extra table.
You do not have to do a full remodel to transform your kitchen. Sometimes all it takes is some painted cabinets, a new backsplash, or an added island. Contact a kitchen remodeling contractor near you for more help and suggestions.
